Sometimes, an outfit just doesn’t seem complete. All of your clothing looks great, but where are your accessories? Or if you do have them, maybe they are just not the right ones. Jewelry could be the missing piece. One strategic piece can bring a whole outfit together.
Be cautious of storing all of your pieces of jewelry together. Consider delegating each piece to its own resting place, utilizing compartmental boxes and storage units. Resist the urge to jumble all your pieces together in one box or basket. Not only can it damage finer, fragile pieces, but it can also make a tangled mess out of chains.
Jewelry is best stored in an area with low humidity. To maximize protection, put your jewelry in a jewelry box or a small drawstring bag. Being submitted to extreme humidity and temperature can cause your pieces to tarnish. While precious metals can be polished back to their original luster, non-precious metals are only coated in which case polishing causes the copper metal underneath to show through.
Before purchasing a new pieces, look at the latest jewelry trends. If there is one thing better than finding the perfect, most heart-stopping bauble, it would be snagging the piece at a wonderful price!
Check to see if your jeweler offers an insurance policy before purchasing an item. Then, if something actually happens to the jewelry, you can return it or have it repaired. Some stores even insure jewelry against loss or theft.
Keep your jewelry from tarnishing as best as you can. Keep your jewelry away from water. Many pieces can become rusty, tarnished or dull when they are exposed to water. For added protection for your jewelry, try adding a thin coating of clear nail polish.
Try wearing the item for a little while to see if it is comfortable and hangs correctly. This can also help you see whether the piece is durable enough to last.
If you are in the market for jewelry, always seek out sales. You can save huge amounts of money if you are savvy. Scope out the sales in every store you can find. Purchasing a piece of jewelry that is recently out of style can save you nearly half of what you would have paid originally.
Plastic Wrap
Get the tangles out of a delicate necklace that’s in a knot. Sometimes you give up on untangling a mess but you can get yourself some plastic wrap before you do give up. Lay the necklace out on plastic wrap, then apply baby or mineral oil. Use small needles to untangle the necklaces. When finished, wash it with a little dishwashing liquid and pat dry.
To conveniently hang your necklaces, try using robe hooks. Try hanging the hooks on the wall in your bedroom or on the back of the door, then put all your necklaces on them in the fashion that works for you. Doing this will keep your jewelry from getting all balled up in the bottom of your jewelry box.
If you are going to buy a very expensive piece of jewelry, buy something that will last you for years. Most expensive pieces are of good quality so you don’t have to worry too much about that. You should keep the style in mind, however. A piece that is made in a popular style may not look quite so fashionable later. Try to find something timeless and classic.
If you want to make a few extra bucks without selling your jewelry, you can do this if you have bracelets or necklaces made of gold. Cut off some of the excess, making certain that it still fits, and you will have something to sell and still be able to use the jewelry as well. With several chains of real gold, you can earn a good bit of cash, even a couple hundred dollars, just by shaving a few inches off of your jewelry.
Buy a piece of jewelry you can reasonably afford. It’s not wise financially to take on a large debt to purchase a ring, no matter how fabulous it is. If you are young and just starting out in life, consider an investment that is less of a burden on your finances. You can always add to the ring when finances are better or add a nice ring guard as an anniversary present.
As was stated, jewelry is a great complement to your outfit. With so many different kinds of jewelry, you can create a look that is traditional, trendy or polished. Then, next time when you’re deciding what to wear, remember to add some jewelry to your outfit.
